NFPA Fire Code Changes: BDA System Testing will Required in All Florida Buildings by 2022 The National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) made changes in 2016 to Florida fire codes for buildings, and developers and contractors need to know how this affects their properties. In all new and existing buildings, minimum radio signal strength for fire department communications shall be maintained at a level determined by the AHJ.
The communication system is known as a BDA system (bi-directional amplifier system) or public safety DAS (PSDAS) and is installed into a structure to enhance radio bands that are used by public safety personnel.
It works with amplifiers and antennas to amplify radio signals and rebroadcast them throughout the building, especially in areas that would be “dead zones” for public safety professionals, such as parking garages or stairwells. Our solution for public safety radio systems takes the good signal from outside the building, amplifies it, and redistributes it indoors so that two-way radios or other safety devices will have a consistent signal. Even in radio “dead zones” communication with both incoming and outgoing signals will be reliable.
